Getting started

Is bluumie only for couples?

No. bluumie is for any two people who already know each other — partners, best friends, friends or siblings. You choose who it's for when you create your account, and it works the same way for everyone.

Is bluumie free?

Yes. The free plan lets you connect with one person and use Bloom, Together, Memories, Look Back and bluumie free. bluumie+ adds Chat and up to 5 connections — the bluumie+ screen always shows the current price.

Do we both need the app?

Yes — bluumie is for two people, so you each need your own account. One of you sends an invite (code, QR code or link) and the other joins with it. Here's how: How do I connect with my person?

Which phones does bluumie run on?

bluumie runs on iPhone and Android phones. Use the same account on either, and check How do I update bluumie? to stay on the latest version.

Connecting

I closed the app — did I lose my invite code?

No. Your invite code is kept until someone joins with it or it expires, so closing or restarting bluumie won't lose it.

Just open Connect with someone → Invite someone again and the same code, QR code and link are shown. Opening it again never creates a second code or counts against your connection limit.

Invite codes are valid for 7 days. After that, opening the invite screen gives you a fresh one.

Can I connect with more than one person?

Yes, with bluumie+ you can be connected with up to 5 people, each with their own Bloom, chat and memories. On the free plan you have one connection.

What happens to our Bloom if we disconnect?

Your shared Bloom, sessions and memories are removed for both of you, and it can't be undone. Your person is notified. Read How do I disconnect from someone? before you decide.

Your Bloom

How long does it take for my Bloom to grow?

By default, your Bloom reaches each stage after this much confirmed time together:

  • Planted — when you connect
  • Sprouting — 5 hours
  • Growing — 20 hours
  • Budding — 50 hours
  • Blooming — 100 hours
  • Full Bloom — 250 hours

Time is added from every session you spend together, whether bluumie detected it or you logged it yourself. Special events can add bonus time.

These thresholds can be tuned over time as we improve bluumie, so they may change slightly.

Not seeing growth? Read Why hasn't my Bloom grown?.

Is the Bloom shared, or do we each have one?

It's one shared Bloom — you both see the same stage and progress. Every connection has its own Bloom. See What is a Bloom?

Time together

What is the Live Activity ticker?

On iPhone, bluumie can show a live timer on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while a Bloom together timer is running.

Turn it on or off in You → Live Activity → Show live ticker.

Does bluumie track me in the background?

No. Together detection only runs while bluumie is open. You can switch it off any time in You → Privacy and log time manually instead.

Can my person see where I am?

No. bluumie never shares your location or your location history. Your person only learns whether you were together.

Do I have to keep the app open all day?

No. Automatic detection only happens while bluumie is open, so open it when you're together if you'd like it to notice. Otherwise, log the time yourself later — it counts the same once your person confirms.

We forgot to open bluumie while we were together. Is the time lost?

Not at all. Tap Log time together on the Together tab, add the start and end time, and your person confirms it. It then counts towards your Bloom.

Memories & Look Back

Who can see my memories?

Only you and your person. Memories are shared inside your pair — they're never public.

Can I edit or delete a memory?

Yes. Tap a memory in the Memories tab to change its title, note or photo — or to delete it. Deleting removes it for both of you. See How do I save a memory?

Where can I see how our month went?

Open Your recaps on Home for a month or year in review. See What are recaps?

bluumie free

Can my person see my calendar events?

No. bluumie free only shares when you're busy or free — never event titles, locations or who you're with.

bluumie+

What is "last seen" and how do I turn it on?

In Chat you can see when your person was last active — "Active just now" or "Active 5 min ago" — but only if they choose to share it.

  • It's off by default.
  • Turn it on in You → Privacy → Share last seen.
  • Sharing works both ways separately: if you keep it off, your person doesn't see your last active time, and you can still choose whether to see theirs by them turning it on.

You can switch it off again at any time.

It says I've reached my connection limit

bluumie's free plan includes one connection. If you try to invite or join a second person, you'll see that you've reached your limit.

  • Upgrade to bluumie+ to connect with up to 5 people.
  • An invite nobody has joined yet doesn't count towards your limit — only real, completed connections do.
  • If you want to swap your connection for someone else on the free plan, you'd first need to disconnect.

Open You → bluumie+ to upgrade.

Do I keep bluumie+ if I get a new phone?

Yes. bluumie+ belongs to your account, not your phone — just log in on the new device.

Why can't I see my older sessions?

Free members can browse the most recent three months. Your older sessions are still there and still count towards your Bloom — Extended History with bluumie+ lets you browse all of them.

Can I cancel bluumie+ any time?

Yes. Open You → bluumie+, scroll to the bottom and tap Cancel bluumie+. You go back to the free plan right away and get a confirmation email. Nothing is deleted — your connections, sessions and memories stay, but new connections, older history and chat are locked until you upgrade again. See How do I cancel bluumie+?

Privacy & safety

Is my chat private?

Chat is only between you and your person, and messages are stored encrypted on our servers. See How does bluumie protect my privacy?

Account & settings

How do I sign out of all devices?

Go to You → Account → Sign out of all devices. Every phone or tablet signed in to your account is signed out — useful if you've lost a device or think someone else has access.

To sign out of just this device, tap Sign out.

How do I delete my account?

Go to You → Account → Delete account and confirm.

This permanently deletes your account and signs you out everywhere. It can't be undone.

If you're connected with someone, think about disconnecting first so you both know what happens to your shared Bloom and memories. Read How do I delete my data? for the full picture.

How do I change the language or switch to dark mode?

In the You tab:

  • Language — choose Device, English or Deutsch.
  • Appearance — choose System, Light or Dark.

Changes apply immediately.

How do I update bluumie?

When a new version is available, bluumie shows a banner at the top of the app: "A new version of bluumie is available." Tap Update and follow the prompt.

Not seeing it? Make sure you're online, then close and reopen the app. You can check which version you have at the bottom of the You tab (Version x.y.z, build).

Can I use bluumie on more than one device?

Yes — log in with the same account on each. If you ever lose a device, use You → Account → Sign out of all devices.

Which languages does bluumie support?

English and Deutsch. Choose one — or follow your phone — under You → Language.

I didn't get the verification email

Tap Resend email in the banner at the top of the app, or on the You tab. You can request a new one once a minute — and it's worth checking your spam folder. Already verified? The banner disappears on its own.
